Wales v Devon U15 Girls - Match Report 2015

A good end to the National Championship Season for the Devon girls.

In their final National Championship match, Devon travelled to Usk to face Wales. Having won the toss Devon opened the batting. Openers Libby McNally batted steadily for her 35, Immy Beasley (8) wasn't able to support Libby and was caught once again. Captain Ellie Ingham-Hill (23) with Libby put Devon in a favourable position with their partnership. Runs were also to come from Daisy Meadowcroft (15) and Sophie Florides (19) in the middle. Sadly the girls lost five wickets from lower order for just 34 runs. Devon did bat their overs and finished their innings on 154-8.

Wales buoyed with the possibility of winning against Devon for their place in the National Finals, opened with Rachel Davies (17) and Seren Hughes (22), and batted for eleven overs before the first wicket was to fall. Taking the pace off the bowling, Devon took control and wickets continued to fall the best from Sophie Florides (6-2-10-3), two of her overs with wicket maidens. Wales were bowled out for 117 with 4 overs remaining, with their chance of getting to the National Finals snatched from them!
